We have two Skutt 1027 electric kilns.
The maximum temperature we fire to is 2,232 degrees f.
This is considered Mid-Range Stoneware
( also called Cone 6)
These firings are done on Tuesdays and Thursdays
We bisque fire generally to 1,830 degrees f
(also called cone 06
These firings are done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
A full bisque kiln load will cost $60.
A full Stoneware load will cost $75.
You will be required to load the kiln yourself with supervision.
Pottery with glazes on the bottom will not be fired.
IIf you are bringing in a small number of pieces, we will charge you by volume* and load the work ourselves with other similarly sized pieces when we do our regularly scheduled firings. Please call before bringing in your work to be sure we will have room in the kiln!
*The average sized coffee mug costs around $2.50 per firing.
Due to the fact that some older low fire (earthenware) glazes contain lead frit, we have decided that we will no longer fire low fire glazes in our kilns. We will bisque fire only.
